Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
An important representative commented the attack left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
